Abstract

The Quran emphasizes the role of prophets as divinely sent guides for humanity. These prophets performed miracles, events that transcend human understanding, to strengthen belief in Allah's power. These miracles existed alongside the natural laws established by Allah, demonstrating no contradiction between Allah's word and actions. The Quran even encourages contemplation of these natural laws, highlighting the Creator's design in the universe's integrated system. Scholars have delved into explaining miracles. Shah Waliullah, a prominent Islamic scholar, sheds light on this concept. He acknowledges that even seemingly supernatural events have natural causes, although these causes may be uncommon. In his view, these rare causes underlie miracles, serving as instruments for fulfilling Allah’s decree. Finally, Allah’s arrangement of earthly causes ensures that miracles remain exceptional. The natural order, with its system of cause and effect, reflects divine wisdom. This ensures miracles maintain their power to inspire faith without disrupting the established laws governing the universe.
